Questions about managing your own server
Can I keep Odoo on my own server and still have it managed?
Yes. Link your server with one command and Server Pro adds monitoring and alerts, daily backups with offsite copies and weekly restore tests, a security audit with guided fixes, live logs, restart and stop, and a recorded web terminal. Your Odoo keeps running on your machine: nothing is migrated.
Which servers can I link?
Any Linux server you can reach over SSH as root and that has Python 3: a VPS at AWS, Hetzner, DigitalOcean or Linode, or a machine of your own whose SSH port the platform can reach. Installing a new Odoo needs Ubuntu or Debian on a 64-bit Intel, AMD or ARM processor.
How much does it cost to manage my own server?
Server Pro is $5 per server per month, or $2 per month billed yearly ($24 a year), and each server has its own subscription you can cancel on its own. Installing a new Odoo on a server is a one-time $150 per instance, 20% less on a server with yearly Server Pro, refunded in full if the install fails.
Does linking change anything on my server?
The link command adds the agent and one restricted key line, plus the terminal's key if you keep the web terminal on, and installs no package. Nothing else changes until you ask for a restart, a fix or an install.
Odoo.sh or self-hosting: which should I choose?
Odoo.sh is simplest if you use Odoo Enterprise and are happy on Odoo S.A.'s infrastructure; a plain self-hosted server costs less but leaves installation, backups, security updates and monitoring to you. Cloud Buddy sits in between: your Odoo on our cloud or on your own server, with the installing, daily tested backups, monitoring and security audit done for you.
